The renamed replacement for the Toleriane Ultra eye cream we used; our "no clear difference" impression was of that older tube, not this one.
Ce qui diffèreOnly the Avène declares an active strength. CeraVe lists its package by mass while the other two use volume, so a three-way per-millilitre comparison would require an unreported product density.
One question per row. The green check marks that row's better answer — there is no overall winner.

Aperçu de la comparaison
The maintained sources through Aug 23, 2026 identified no controlled trial showing that one of these eye creams outperforms a regular moisturizer around the eyes. If you want one anyway, compare the package prices and declared ingredients: only the Avène states the strength of its retinaldehyde. CeraVe is sold by mass, so it is not converted to millilitres.
Ce qui correspond
All three are fragrance-free eye-area creams from drugstore skincare brands.
Ce qui diffère
Only the Avène declares an active strength. CeraVe lists its package by mass while the other two use volume, so a three-way per-millilitre comparison would require an unreported product density.
Limite des preuves
Evidence on this page supports the ingredient, product type, or prevention step. It doesn't prove any one of these exact products is better.
The evidence differs by product. CeraVe and Avène evidence is about other products or facial use; Toleriane Dermallergo Eyes has exact-product studies, but the available studies are manufacturer-linked and do not include a comparison group.
~The brand has studies, but none of this product
Twenty-five registered studies name a CeraVe product. None names the Eye Repair Cream, and it appears in none of the 153 PubMed records that mention CeraVe. The largest is a 528-person study at the University of Miami that tested the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and Moisturizing Cream, twice daily for 28 days, in people with diabetes-related skin changes. At day 33 the treating physicians rated 447 of 528 much or very much improved.
Réserve : That study had one group, nothing to compare it against, and everyone knew what they were using; the rating was the treating physician's own judgment, and CeraVe was a named partner on it.
~The brand tested a different cream, not this one
The maintained ClinicalTrials.gov and PubMed searches returned no record naming this eye and lip cream. Avène's parent company did register and publish a randomized split-face study of a different retinaldehyde face cream in 66 people over three months, entered under the internal code RV4983A rather than a product name. A separate 44-week trial in 125 people, comparing it against the same cream base without the active ingredient, studied 0.05% retinaldehyde on facial skin, but a later critical review found no retinaldehyde-versus-plain-base difference it could tell apart from chance for wrinkle depth or roughness.
Réserve : Neither study tested this current eye-and-lip formula or the eye area. The split-face study used no placebo, the 1998 authors included manufacturer staff, and within-group improvement is not proof of a between-group benefit.

✓This product was studied, but with nothing to compare it against
A published study, in which everyone knew what they were using, identified Toleriane Dermallergo Eye Cream by name and followed 41 adults with eyelid eczema who used it twice daily for 28 days. Mean DLQI improved from 4.17±2.23 to 0.82±1.0; usual skincare was allowed, there was no control group, and no local adverse reactions were reported in that study. A 2026 case report (doi:10.1111/cod.70122) later attributed allergic eyelid contact eczema from this product to hydroxyacetophenone.
Réserve : The 41-person study had no control group, four of five authors worked for La Roche-Posay, and the remaining author reported company fees. The later allergy report is one case and cannot estimate incidence. Neither record establishes superiority to a plain moisturizer or benefits for dark circles or wrinkles.

Exact-product searches were checked through August 23, 2026, and additional evidence was reviewed through August 25. Dermallergo Eyes has exact-product evidence, but it is uncontrolled and manufacturer-linked; a later single allergy case is a tolerability signal, not an incidence estimate. No maintained source establishes that any of the three products is better than a plain moisturizer or either alternative for cosmetic eye-area outcomes.

For each evidence row, search the quoted evidence-row product name, then the quoted brand plus the distinctive product-name tokens. A brand-wide statement additionally requires a quoted brand-name search. Formula codes are added only when an official or study source discloses them.
Ce que cela ne vous dit pas : A negative maintained search is a dated coverage statement, not proof that no study exists in another database, language, registry, sponsor archive, unpublished report, or differently named formula.
