Why the name comes first
Most wasted skincare money is spent treating the wrong name. Scrubbing sebaceous filaments does nothing but irritate; using an acne treatment on keratosis pilaris misses what it is; trying to shrink a pore that is a normal size is a purchase with no possible result.
So this names the thing, says how common it is, and hands you the guide for it. That is the whole tool.
What "normal" means here
Common is not the same as harmless, and rare is not the same as serious. Where a finding is close to universal — visible pores on an oily nose, for instance — the page says so, because "is this normal" is usually the real question underneath.
What this can’t tell you
Two things can look alike, and more than one can be present at once. This cannot see your skin, and it cannot rule anything out. A bump that grows, bleeds, changes colour or will not heal is a reason to have it looked at.
